Musical Director

Anne

Anne Moriarty-Martin is conductor of the Mayo Youth Orchestra. She is a graduate of St. Patrick’s College, Dublin (education and music). She also has a Master of Education degree, which focussed on musical composition with primary school children.

As teaching principal of Monasteraden National School, she has great opportunities to bring music into the classroom. She is the co-creator of Mayo Concert Orchestra’s ‘Classroom Cacophonies’ programme.

Anne has been playing violin with Mayo Concert Orchestra since its inception in 1995 and is the current leader. She completed a course in conducting with Robert Houlihan in the RIAM, and has conducted myriad musical ensembles since 1991, although working with children/youth is her preferred area.

She has conducted MYO in the National Concert hall, Dublin and at a performance for the President of Ireland. She directed and conducted the MYO during a project that saw them open a concert for the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra and perform a summer tour in Vienna.

She loves working with Mayo Youth Orchestra and is passionate about instilling a love of music in young people. She is inspired by the talent and enthusiasm of the orchestra members and is very proud to conduct them.
